Mendini was one of the first product designers I discovered, as I was interested in these bottle openers I saw in John Lewis. An Italian designer and architect, his design has been characterized as "mixing different cultures and different forms of expression". He was born in Milan in 1931 and has collaborated with international companies such as Alessi, Philips, Swarvoski and Swatch. Alessandro Mendini is a member of the "Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design", has been awarded with the Italian prize for Design and Architecture and his work can be seen world-wide. A truly inspiring designer who's work has influenced many others as well as many movements.
